A remarkable journal written by `sambees, one of our community's finest (and oldest ) on the topic of GROUPS. Mainly focused on the crucial information that isn't included in those huge MAKEGROUPSNOW advertisements...
I watch ^budgie and had already read the journal; it was insightful, informative, and much appreciated. I know that, if I have the chance in the future, I'll think long and hard about converting another club into a group; already with the one I'm helping to run now we've encountered some of these problems and, even though I know I shouldn't be surprised, I'm certainly irritated at dA's lack of foresight in it's eager creation of new features, not just in their poor design but also that they obviously didn't care to properly explain the full ramifications of converting a club into a group. Shame shame.
But oh yeah, I forgot; the people who run dA aren't interested in art anymore, they're interested in money. Go figure. *is shot for snarkiness*
Well I have to say that, while everything is true to some extent, I think dA will take notice of the community's feedback and develop new features, modify existing ones etc to please us. If you have a suggestion to improve groups leave a message in #devBUG
As for dA being interested in money, well hosting the site and creating and developing everything sitewide is expensive It's not free, people won't work their asses of creating this art community for free, it'd ruin them and the site. I do agree that the subscriptions for groups are too expensive but we also get MANY things for free when we join the site and it costs dA money as well, it's a balance between the sides.
